The Genesee/Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, or GCASA, has served residents of Western New York for more than four decades. Founded in 1975, GCASA started with a focus on the prevention and treatment of alcohol and drug abuse, and has grown and expanded dramatically since. We now serve residents in Orleans County, as well, working with a team of more than 80 people and an operating budget of more than $4.2 million annually. Since our formation, we have broadened our programs, as well, and now offer residential services and Royal Employer Services, an employee assistance program that helps to provide counseling, grief support and other programs for employers to help deal with issues that affect productivity. We also offer several proactive prevention programs aimed at educating and informing residents of the region of the risks of addictions and behaviors to avoid to live a healthy and happy lifestyle. Our programs include community outreach through school and business programs, responsible server training, agency outreach and partnerships and much more, allowing us to provide educational information and brochures on sound prevention strategies with proven successful outcomes.
