About Grace House of Memphis for Women
A substantial amount of research supports the need for gender specific treatment. Women most often have issues that differ from those of men. Women usually process information differently. Men tend to be more "end result" oriented while women are usually very process-oriented and feelings-oriented.
There are also physical differences in the way that alcohol and drugs metabolize in the bodies of men and women. Women experience different barriers to entering treatment and often have very different underlying issues, socially and psychologically. Therefore, treatment planning, the environment, the length and intensity of treatment, as well as several other treatment elements, must naturally be very different for women than for men.
